Seen Around Town: Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s Premiere Screening

Last week my sister and I had the pleasure of attending the Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s Season Premiere Screening and Cast Meet & Greet. The event was held at Indulj and hosted by PR maven Candice Nicole.

Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s follows Miss Robbie Montgomery, owner of several soul food restaurants in St. Louis, Missouri. A former background singer for Ike and Tina Turner, the 71 year-old runs both her home life and business with an iron fist. The cast of the show also includes her son Tim, his fiancée Jenae, their baby boy and Miss Robbie’s nephew, Charles.

The event served as a sneak peek at the show’s 2nd season premiere which aired this past Saturday on OWN. With the opening of yet another restaurant, new recipes and staff, and Jenae and Tim’s pending wedding, season two is set to be full of laughs, sass, bumps and most importantly, love from one of reality tv’s most endearing families.

Although Miss Robbie wasn’t able to attend the DC screening, both Jenae and Charles (and baby Timmy!) were present and mingled with the crowd while we enjoyed some of Miss Robbie’s soul food recipes including salt and vinegar chicken wings and collard green egg rolls. Charles is just as funny as he is on the show and talked about still getting used to the attention and opportunities that the show has brought him. My sister, fellow blogger Shelly Bell and I also had the opportunity to talk to Jenae. After introducing us to little Timmy and one of her best friends who happened to be in town for work, Jenae chatted away as we discussed her family and their newfound fame. She truly has a beautiful spirit and I’m looking forward to what this season brings for her.

If you missed Saturday’s premiere, you can catch it this coming Saturday at 8/7c on OWN. Be sure to also tune in every Saturday night at 9/8c to catch the new season of Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s on OWN.

A very special thank you to Patricia’s Professional Photographers for the pictures.

Do you watch Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s? Have you been to any of the restaurants? Have you ever had collard green egg rolls? Leave your sunshine below.
