Happy New Year’s Eve Sunflowers! 2012 has been an amazing year and I can’t wait to experience what 2013 brings! You may have noticed that along with the new design, ICTS also has a new tagline “living life to discover“. This post is dedicated to reflecting on my favorite discoveries of the year:
In the Winter, I discovered the new TV series Touch. Such a refreshingly touching (pun intended) show, I’m looking forward to the February premiere of season 2. I profiled everyday hero Tomika Holmes who is such an inspiration. Then there was my obsession with yet another social media site Pinterest. Recently most of my pins have been wedding related but I have some ideas for integrating ICTS content in the new year, so be sure to follow me now. I also discovered a super easy recipe for yummy eggnog cupcakes…which reminds me to pick up some eggnog before it disappears from shelves this week. In February I participated in my first photo challenge and said goodbye to Whitney Houston.
Spring brought my enrollment in Blogging School, an experience that I continue to draw on. In Entertainment, I was lovin’ on The Hunger Games and Robert Glasper - both still in heavy rotation. I hosted a Courvoiser Soirée, something I’m looking forward to doing again after the wedding. The great weather also brought about several restaurant reviews: Aldo’s, Busboys and Poets and Society Lounge. I also had the chance to see one of my favorite singers, Nikka Costa, in concert. The Spring also launched my fascination with monthly subscription services i.e. Little Black Bag. Look for another post soon on other monthly subscriptions that have sucked me in :-/
Spring is also when my very good friend and fellow blogger, MrsTDJ, suddenly lost the great love of her life - hers is a story that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Their story inspires me to continue to live life on purpose.
By the time Summer rolled around, I was out and about attending some pretty cool events: Evening with Eden, CASA G.L.A.M. Fashion Event, BlogaDC, Liner Notes, Little Shop of Horrors, Honesty Jewelry Trunkshow and the Yours/Mine Secondhand Shopping Soirée. I had a blast at the MJB, D’Angelo and Melanie Fiona concert. I joined two incredible groups of women, Bloggers Like Me (BLM) and theHappy Black Woman community. I expect to do more with both in 2013. I found time to review a couple of restaurants, Sticky Rice here in DC and DP Brasserie while on a business trip in Albany, NY and discovered the food truck craze. My favorite post of the Summer revealed my hair journey from relaxed to natural.
The Fall ushered in the new season of both returning and new tv shows. I attended the Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s Screening, the Get Lucky Swap & Pop-Up Shop, the DC Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show, the Autism Walk, the Macy’s Santa Tour and the Sis Anna Screening. I went vineyard hopping in Maryland and was a Foodie Penpal in September and November. My birthday/blogaversary celebration was fantastic, as was my meal at Craftsteak! Still an epic memory, I prepared for and attended the Blogalicious ’12 Conference in Las Vegas. I shared the start of my journey down the aisle, made some changes to the blog and created a FB fan page.
Whew! What a year! Stay tuned to see what 2013 brings. What was your favorite post from 2012? What about your favorite personal discovery? Leave your sunshine below.
