As a Social Media Butterfly and wannabe Tech geek, I have been elated to discover a variety of options available for integrating social media and technology into the big day! Here are just some of the cool finds we’ve come across on our journey down the aisle.
Planning
Gathering all of your guests’ mailing addresses can be a pain especially when added to the many other tasks involved in wedding planning. Postable offers a way to help you create a complete, secure, up-to-date Address Book in less than a minute. In three easy steps, Postable takes a huge chunk out of the work of such an essential but tedious step in the planning process.
Wedding websites have become a staple for contemporary weddings, but what about your very own wedding app? Appy Couple is a development platform where you can create your wedding app and matching website. That means that with one, easy setup process you’ll create your wedding website and mobile app, plus coordinating emails to send to your guests.

Handing out disposable cameras to wedding guests so that you could capture a wide variety of perspectives and moments from the day is soooo passé. Will most of your guests be toting smartphones on the big day? Instead, why not create your very own hashtag so guests can tag their photos to help you document the day? You can always go back and download all of your tagged photos to add to your collection. This post from a recent bride over on A Practical Wedding explains the step-by-step process for crowdsourcing your wedding photos. Other wedding-specific photo sharing apps include Wedding Party and Wed Pics.
Is hiring a videographer not in the budget? Perhaps StoryMix is the perfect alternative for you! Storymix Media’s goal is to help couples everywhere capture and enjoy their wedding for a lifetime. They’ve developed easy services and products affordable for any budget. Now everyone can share their love story and enjoy the best video memories each anniversary. Through an array of very affordable choices, StoryMix takes footage captured via their app and/or HD cameras lent to you to create a professionally edited final video for you and your soon-to-be spouse to enjoy for many years to come!
Favors
The Tech Evangelist Brothatech suggests offering special wedding party favors to guests who use the aforementioned designated hashtag to check-in via Foursquare to the wedding. I am a ‘check-in’ feen, so I love this idea

How’s this for a unique (or geeky :-O) favor idea? USB drives, although on the pricier side, can make a great wedding favor for the right couple. Personalized with your wedding details on the outside, you can further personalize these by pre-loading them with an image slideshow, video, music playlist or graphics that are unique to only you.
These are just a few of the many options now available for couples looking to incorporate a little tech into the big day. Would you consider any of these tech tips for your own special day? Have other tips for bringing the tech to your wedding? Leave your sunshine below.

I like those ideas, and had NO idea that the disposable cameras were out of style. LOL! I always thought it was a cool idea. Having a personal #hashtag is super cool too. It’s interesting to see how technology is changing things for the better. Your wedding is going to be friggin awesome – watch as your friends start to use your ideas. LOL!

A personal hashtag sounds super cute. When we renew our vows I’d integrate that into the planning!

Excellent ideas! Actually I’ve seen the hashtag idea at work. The couple was actually trending (locally) for a minute on Twitter. Awesomeness.
