Hey Sunflowers!!!! I’m happy to report that both Baby Sunshine and I continue to do well. My gestational diabetes is 100% controlled and it appears that we are on our way to a healthy delivery. These days I am definitely moving much slower as the baby clearly has taken over my entire mid-section and yet I still don’t feel like I look pregnant. Between my weight loss and B-belly, pregnancy looks different than I imagined on me and I’m now beginning to accept that. 7 weeks since my last update and so much has happened/is going on. Let me catch you up:
Keep it Classy
Mr. DrummerBoy and I have completed our Childbirth and Newborn Care classes and I am so glad we took them. In the Childbirth class, we learned about the signs of labor, pain management techniques and our various options for the childbirth process. I am all about options so I feel much better equipped for what to expect when the time comes. The Newborn Care class covered bonding in the first few hours of baby’s life, feeding, diapering, bathing and safely caring for all of baby’s needs through 9 months. As a former infant, toddler, preschool teacher much of this was a refresher but it was nice being updated as to the most recent pediatric guidelines and recommendations. I also took a Breastfeeding class which I’ll tell you more about in an upcoming post
I am so thankful for the support of all of my family and friends during this really unique period in our lives. I am especially appreciative of the support of my fellow expecting moms: from my sister Jaye to my close friend Trina to my FB and Mocha Moms support groups. Having the opportunity to go through this experience with others is inexplicable and has gotten me through the challenges and expectations.
What is the absolute worst thing that a first time expectant couple can do a few weeks before the expected arrival of their little one? Yep, Mr. DrummerBoy and I have decided to move next week \O/. Though ultimately it is the right decision for our family, it is hella stressful. We are both looking forward to finally seeing the nursery come together after months of conceptualizing. Prayerfully we will be mostly settled in by the time Baby Sunshine makes their debut.
We are so excited that the time has finally come to reveal Baby Sunshine’s gender and name. We will make the big announcement this weekend during our baby shower. Mr. DrummerBoy has been a trooper sticking with our plan to keep it a secret. Shower guests will be asked to cast their vote before the big reveal so how about you do the same Sunflowers? Leave a comment below and let me know your guess. If you believe in any of the many old wives tales, here are a few hints that may or may not help:
- I’ve carried this baby low from the start.
- I did not experience morning sickness.
- My nose did not spread.
Is Baby Sunshine a girl or boy? If you choose correctly, you will be entered into a drawing for an ICTS Favorite Things prize pack. Be sure to leave your guess by 10am Saturday, 3/15 to be eligible to win!
We’re in the home stretch now. Any advice for these last few weeks? How did you prepare for actually bringing a human being home with you? Any guesses re: Baby Sunshine’s gender? Leave your sunshine below.
