Focus on Good Deeds in the New Year!

Happy NYE Sunflowers!

This year, I’m setting a new kind of resolution and it’s all about doing good deeds. Inspiring me is the 100 Good Deeds Bracelet  – it’s both a fashion statement and a cause to encourage everyone to do a good deed.

The designer of these bracelets, Mary Fisher (, is an artist, author and HIV/AIDs activist, who has dedicated her life to working with women in developing countries. As the force behind the 100 Good Deeds Bracelet, Mary empowers women in Uganda, Zambia, South Africa, Rwanda, and Haiti, many infected with HIV, to help her make the 100 Good Deeds bracelet. This project gives women a way to support their families through earnings, while empowering them to also contribute to good deeds around the world. This non-profit provides economic and educational opportunities to women and girls across Africa and elsewhere. Proceeds from 1GD bracelets are reinvested in the program to provide more women and girls with more training in more countries.

Each bracelet is strung with 100 beads and is intended to be a continued reminder to do a good deed. Every time you go out of your way to perform a good deed, you move the bracelet’s rubber ring closer to the 100th bead. A good deed means we’ve gone out of our way to help someone and only counts if the deed remains anonymous. Each time you do a good deed, move the ring on the bracelet closer to the button.

I’ve joined the #DeedADay movement and my goal is to wear my bracelet and do a deed a day. I’d like to encourage my readers to join with me. Purchase yours today at Imagine if we all did a good deed a day, what a better place the world would be 😉

Help pick my unique hairstyle with Motions!

As you may recall from my Lye Til I Die? post, my relationship with my hair is rooted in my childhood memories. After choosing to ditch my relaxer over 3 years ago, a healthy yet low-maintenance hairstyle is even more important now that I’m a busy mom with a limited amount of “me” time.

No matter what type of hair type or texture you may have, Motions products will keep your hair looking as strong and beautiful as you are, enabling you to achieve a unique style that is all your own. With a new season now upon us, I am in search of a new style that will allow me just that!

Checkout these three contending looks from hair expert Ursula and help me decide on my signature look for the Fall. Be sure to vote for your choice in the poll below. I will debut the winning look on a future blog post 😉

Baby’s First Fall: 4 Must Have Looks

Hello Sunflowers!

As Summer comes to a close, I am looking forward to introducing Baby Sunshine to Fall. Long walks admiring the colorful leaves, apple picking at a local farm and pumpkin carving are all on tap, but first we have to switch out her clothes. No more cute sleeveless jumpers or short-sleeve onesies. The cooler weather calls for longer sleeves, pants and layering. Buying baby clothes can be tricky and given that Baby Sunshine was born #smallbutmighty, she’s currently wearing size 0-3/3 months at 5 months. So although we have been so blessed to receive a ton of clothes from family and friends, most of those that are her current size are not seasonally appropriate.

Luckily Gymboree has teamed up with the popular (and one of my favorite) author of children’s books, Eric Carle, for a collection that is perfect for baby’s first Fall. Checkout a few of my top picks below:

1. Nothing says Fall like a beautiful flower and is that a bit of peplum I spy? Okay, okay maybe just a ruffle but oh so cute! And the beret? YES!

Seen Around Town: FABBGirls Club + ALDO Accessories = A-List Shopping!

The FABBGirls Club A-List Shopping Event was a blast and despite yucky weather, we had a great turnout!  The evening was tons of fun with exclusive discounts on handbags, jewelry & sunglasses. My fellow FABBGirls did an awesome job at styling our readers and guests also had the chance to style themselves during an accessories contest in which the winner won an ALDO gift card.

In between styling fun, snacks & drinks,  Mary Kay representative and makeup artist Danielle showcased the season’s latest makeup trends with yours truly as a model.

The ALDO Accessories staff was fantastic to work with. Please be sure to visit them at Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. Tell the store manager Teyona that I sent you 😉
